I like leggy birds

Another trip to the Wader wonderland at Salthouse was very productive. Bar tailed Godwit, Ringed Plover and Little Stint added below.

Sunset at Titchwell

What a change it makes to have some nice weather to work with, and some birds that have performed well to coincide with the sunshine. The last couple of weeks have been spectacularly successful photographically and I now have about 40gigs worth of images after editing to re-edit and pick the best from.
The best day was last Saturday, the15th, an early start for the wader roost at Snettisham and a late afternoon rising tide at Titchwell meant that I could do some much more pictorial "birds in the landscape" images.
The Black headed Gull was a real performer and at last I have some shots that show one feeding in a more natural setting and not eating bread! More to follow as I process the images.

More waders

Some more time spent in Norfolk working on waders at the tail end of this week, Turnstones and Sanderlings are about in good numbers. A fish and chip stop-off in Hunstanton led to the shot of the clifftop rain shelter with the sun setting behind it, I have given it the HDR treatment!

Thornham, Norfolk

Thornham harbour in Norfolk has a special wild magic, and when there are very high tides the sea cuts it off and floods the road, not that that will stop a man and his camera once he's got the wellies on! I arrived at 'silly o'clock' this morning hoping for a spectacular sunrise, not that the forecast was right, I dozed in the car whilst the rain hammered on the roof, I seem to have done this more this year than at any other time, It wasn't long though before the sun shone, the day improved and the shutter clicked. The birds below (from the top) are :- Dunlin, Turnstone and Ringed Plover

Frypod, mud and Dunlin

I had great time yesterday crawling around on my tum in some rank mud, and it was also another outing for the 'frypod', my ASDA frying pan adapted for mounting a Wimberley head and camera on so it will slide about on the ground.
The advantage being that you can stay low down and move around without breaking the skyline thus spooking the birds, I store spare batteries, CF cards and my specs in the pan so they are readily to hand....... it works a treat!
